Kerman plain is between two range of mountains which pass from Northeast and Southeast of it. The length of these two mountains is from Northwest to Southeast. This length was so effective on establishment of Kerman city passageways. Kerman plain descent is from Southeast to Northwest. The height of this plain from the sea level is different. The maximum height of it is 2100 meters in Southeast and it is about 1650 in Northwest.
Kerman plain is surrounded by Joupar mountain from south , Darmanoo and Teez mountains from north, Bid and Badamoo mountains from west and Namour and Nasr mountains from east. Ardeshir Castle, Dokhtar Castle, Jamaran Township and Farizan neighborhood are the oldest places in Kerman which are used as political and military station. They are known as the highest places in Kerman by the height of 1778 meters.
Factors such as height, Lut desert and local factors effect on Kerman climate. All of these factors are causes of dry and ultra-dry climate in Kerman.
Climate and temperature depend on Natural Geographical characteristic and mathematical position. The height and the distance from the sea are the most important factors in changes of Kerman climate.
One of specification of this climate is the height difference between temperature in cold and hot season and even day and night. According to climate statistics in synoptic station of Kerman in 1359 and 1377, the temperature average was 15 ° c.
The average raining of 18 years in Kerman city was 1149 millimeters. 59 percent of raining is in winter. The most raining in one month was 40 millimeters. The raining in city is from the middle of autumn till spring.
Kerman Province is affected by local and external winds. The blowing of this wind causes to have different climate in Kerman. These winds usually are dry and seasonable. The blowing direction is from southwest to northeast in February, March and April.
This wind causes to have so much dust and decrease moisture. The east and northeast wind effect on the average of raining in winter and spring.
The types of buildings according to climate
The form of buildings should be coordinated to climate in order to balance the movement of the air in buildings. The best form and type of building is that one which loose temperature in winter and gain it in summer from the sun.
The types of climate
Kerman has various kind of climate, because of its special position. So it has dry weather in north, northeast and center, in south and southwest has hot and humid weather. Raining in this province is in October to April. The maximum temperature is in Shahdad which is more than 50 degrees. Evaporation amount is between 1500 to 4500 millimeters that its maximum is for Lut desert.
The central heights in province causes to decrees Dryness, but by increasing of height the raining amount will be more and temperature become low. The bowing of winds effect on climate changes. Most of these winds are dry and seasonal which blow in February, March and April and their directions are from South-west to north-west and west. West and northwest winds effect on raining amount in winter and spring.
